Based on recent protocols and studies from Chinese hospitals treating C19 confirmed patients and frontline healthcare workers, we saw the effectiveness of combining Chinese herbs with western medication and treatment protocols that increased prevention and recovery rate.

What we know about COVID-19 disease and how Chinese herbs fits in.

Preventative Phase:

The current estimate is that 70% of the community will be exposed to COVID-19; with the majority of people experiencing mild to no symptoms. During this phase, herbs selected helps enhance your immune system and have mild antiviral herbs for prevention.

Huang Qi (Radix Astragali Membranacei) is used to support your immunity, stimulating the generation of T and B cells to help build a defense system against any foreign attack, as well as recognizing the virus, destroying it and creating antibodies. Additional herbs used in the preventative phase are Yi Xing Cao (Herba cum Radice Houttuyniae Cordatae) that have antiviral properties.

Early stage:

Here a patient begins to experience flu and cold like symptoms - fever, sore throat, dry cough, and muscle aches. We prescribe strong antiviral and antibacterial herbs that clears mild infection and inflammation to prevent the virus from going deeper in the lungs.

Jin Yin Hua (Flos Lonicerae Japonicae) is typically used to help clear heat, reduce fever and flu symptoms, it is known for its strong antiviral function. Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae Baicalensis) is also used for clearing infection in the chest with antibiotic effects.

Next stage:

Here you begin to experience Lung symptoms - chest tightness, difficulty breathing, chest pain, wheezing. This is where the virus is going deeper into the lungs, it is important that the complimentary Chinese herbs work to eliminate toxin and congestion in the lungs with increasing inflammation.

Ting Ling Zi (Semen Descurainiae Seu Lepidii) is used to expel deep phlegm stuck in the lungs to avoid the alveolar spaces from stiffening. Wu Bei Zi (Galla Rhois) have also been found to bind to the spikes of the coronavirus to prevent it from affecting the lungs deeper.

Recover stage:

During recovery, a patient may feel fatigue from fighting the virus and the effects from strong medications used. Common symptoms include a weakened digestive and respiratory systems.

Sha Shen (Glehniae/Adenophorae Radix) is used to lubricate the lungs as well as supporting the stomach for recovery.
